November 20, 2023: Vamos a la Catarroja!
Hola Amigos y Familia,
Well I'm here!! I have been in Spain for the last four days and WOW it's amazing! Such a huge cultural adjustment but I love it! There is plenty of fresh Pan and chocolate caliente to keep me happy!
I left the Salt Lake City Oeste mission early Wednesday Morning and I am so grateful for the miracles that I experienced and the people I met! That mission is filled with lifelong friends and I will always consider the Salt Lake City Oeste mission as family! For all the peeps in Salt Lake City, I love you all so much! Please email me and join my Google photos!! Please keep in touch I love yall praying for the Salt Lake City Oeste mission Siempre :))
I had an amazing missionary experience with an older Lady named Mary on my second flight! We started talking about religion and she said she was catholic but was interested in what missionaries do. I shared my experience being a missionary are the blessings I have seen! She then shared her experiences of being a nurse for 40 years!! I told her I am a nursing student and we began talking for two full hours. We shared how God is always in the details and what miracles we can see from serving people every day! She was an incredible lady with an inspiring story and Faith! She offered to pray with me and left me with the sweetest prayer of protection and love for my mission. I then offered a prayer for her and invited her to look at the church website and learn more about our gospel! I left her with my email to keep in touch and that was all. Through this experience the spirit was incredibly strong as we shared prayers and expressed our love for God and his Gospel!
Now some details about the mission!! I am in a zone in Valencia so I get to be around the city and experience so much of the culture and food ;) I am serving in Catarroja and I love it! I know that God is in the details because Catarroja was the first area my older sister served in! Throughout my mission and throughout all the change and fears God has given me something familiar! He knows what I need always, he will never give us a challenge we can't overcome. I am so grateful to be experiencing this strength building change every day in the mission!
Missionary work is quite different in Spain than in Salt Lake. We can't really knock doors so we street contact for most of the day! Spain also has a siesta in the middle of the day where no one is on the streets like seriously every person is in their house and resting! So we take the middle of the day to do studies which is quite a change.
We had Conferencia de Estaca esta domingo and we met the members from all over Valencia! They are some of the sweetest and strongest members ever! They made me feel so welcome and I can't wait to serve with these amazing members!
I want to end with a quote from Elder Holland that I love! “[God] will never desert us. He never has, and He never will. He cannot do it. It is not His character [to do so]. … He will [always] stand by us” (Tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.) God is our constant in this life! He is simply always there! I have learned to rely on this truth. I can turn to Him when all seems impossible, because with him all is possible!!
Wishing you all the best from Spain!
Love, Hermana Ross ♡
