June 10, 2024: Luis Miguel--The Prankster
Holaaa
Another memorable week here in good ol’ Figueres!! We had interviews with Presidente and he loves to spill all the tea about transfers!! Unfortunately this transfer 16 missionaries are going home and we are only getting about 4 or 5 missionaries! SO that means that presidente will have to close 3 or 4 areas 😭 Please please pray for the missionaries coming to Spain that they can get their visas! He also told me that most likely I will be training for this next transfer YAY! Baby #2 on the way!!
We also had intercambios this week and I got to serve with Hermana Baldó in Mataro! Hermana Baldó is from Venezuela and she is adorable! Her area is literally on the beach so I very much enjoyed our day doing missionary work in that beautiful area! We got to do service for this lady named Diana from England and she was so cute!!
Luis Miguel got baptized!!!! He had his baptism on Friday and it was such an amazing day!! He has been investigating the church off and on for about 10 years now and we had a prompting to get in contact with him earlier this transfer! As we began teaching him again he felt and had many experiences where he knew he needed to be baptized at this time! And he acted upon this prompting!! He was so ready from the moment we met him! He bore his testimony after his baptism and shared how he has met and been taught by many missionaries and his testimony has grown over all these years. And then he looked at Hermana Bäck and I and got teary eyed and shared that he knew he needed to be baptized bacause of how he felt the spirit during our lessons! At this point I was very very teary eyed and I knew that the Lord's timing was perfect and that I needed to learn from Luis Miguel at this point in my life!
Then this last Sunday Luis Miguel received the gift of the Holy Ghost!! We texted him 10 minutes before to make sure he was on his way and he confirmed! But those 10 minutes went by and he wasn't there!! We then got a text from Luis saying that he wouldn't be able to make it because he got stuck at work!! At this moment my heart sank, literally my worst nightmare was coming true! But a minute later Luis Miguel walked in with a big smile on his face, laughing to himself and sat in the back of the hotel salon! He then texted us saying it was all a broma and he wanted to see how we would react! Let's just say we were relieved but we weren't too happy with his "prank"! He did recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost and the Priesthood that beautiful Sunday and I couldn't be happier for him!! But that Sunday service was beautiful and I am watching this amazing little group grow into a branch!!
God is so good and this work is just an added testimony to that! I know that God sends us our friends that we are teaching! Each one of the people I have met on the mission have changed me and have been a living example of the power of this Gospel!! You each have such a light and I am so grateful for each of you in my life!! :)
Love, Hermana Ross ♡
